KM football coach, players honored for season’s efforts
Although the season was short, the Kasson-Mantorville football players and coaches were well recognized for their efforts.
The KoMets took the field six times this season and brought home the Section 1AAAA title. Due to COVID-19, there was no state advancement this year.
The team received great recognition for their hard work. Head Coach, Joel Swanson, received the Coach of the Year from the Big Southeast Blue District.
Eight players made the Big Southeast Blue All District Team:
Jackson Kennedy, Jace Bigelow, Anthony Moe-Tucker, Logan Laures, Kyler Kujath, Matt Donovan, Jakob Aarsvold and Owen Bradford.
Three players received Honorable Mention: Aaron Winkle, Brooks Buchanan, and Logan Vaughan.
Jackson Kennedy received the Defensive Player of the Year by the Big Southeast Blue District and Aaron Winkle was recognized as the Special Teams Player of the Year.
Six KoMets also made the 2020 Post Bulletin All-Area Team:
PB First Team:
Jackson Kennedy led the KoMets in tackles for three years straight years. Kennedy finished 287 tackles, 91 stops, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Jakob Aarsvold finished with 31 tackles, five sacks and three pass deflections. Aarsvold will play in college next season at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.
Aaron Winkle went 2/5 on field goals and 14/17 on extra points. He averaged 46.3 yards on kickoffs.
PB Second Team:Anthony Moe-Tucker had 35 tackles this season and rushed for 484 yards and captured four touchdowns.
Jace Bigelow ended his career with nine interceptions. Bigelow led the KoMets in interceptions for the last two years.
PB Honorable Mention:Matt Donovan, quarterback, rushed for 558 yards this season and had 10 touchdowns.
