Kids beat the cold in Mantorville

Dozens of bundled-up youngsters braved c-c-c-cold weather during the Mantorville Chamber of Commerce’ annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 in Riverside Park.
They were broken up into age groups including 3 and under, 4-5, and 6 and up. And they went at it, despite temperatures in the upper 20s.
“I think it went really well,” event organizer Lynette Nash said. “Even thought it was cold, people know that this is not one that takes long to come out and get your Easter eggs and you get a treat bag. Doesn’t matter what age you are, you come through and you have a good time. And if you’re two minutes late you can still make the next group. We had a good crowd of kids, despite the fact that we were freezing.
“They have a really good time,” she said. “My big thing, is, I don’t want any kid to not be able to get an egg, no matter how big or small you are. They all deserve the eggs.”
The event receives donations from the Hubble House, KMTelecom, and the Mantorville Restoration Association.
“It’s just fun,” Nash said. “Except for when we’re freezing.”
