Kasson-Mantorville Students Shine Above Statewide Averages
As Superintendent, I am incredibly proud to share that students in the Kasson-Mantorville School District continue to demonstrate academic excellence, scoring well above statewide averages in recent proficiency results. From early elementary through high school, our students consistently outperform their peers across Minnesota, reflecting the district’s deep commitment to learning and achievement.
The greatest gains can be seen in the early grades. In Grade 3, an outstanding 80.5% of our students reached proficiency, compared to just 57.9% statewide. That 22.6-point difference highlights the strength of our early literacy and numeracy programs and the dedicated work happening in our classrooms. Similarly, in Grade 4, 77.3% of students achieved proficiency, far surpassing the state’s 55.6% average. These early successes provide a strong foundation for continued learning and future success.
Even as proficiency rates tend to decline across the state in the upper grades, Kasson-Mantorville students continue to maintain a clear advantage. In Grade 5, 52.3% of students reached proficiency compared to 42.9% statewide. Grade 6 students scored 50.0% proficient versus 40.1% statewide, while Grade 7 stood out with 52.0% proficient compared to just 40.9% statewide. In Grade 8, 47.5% of our students were proficient, still ahead of the state’s 41.9%. Our 10th grade reading scores came in at 72.1% compared to the state’s 51%, and our 11th grade math scores reached 52.9% compared to the state’s 34%. These results show that even through the challenging middle and high school years, Kasson-Mantorville students continue to rise above.
Another bright spot is that fewer of our students fall into the “does not meet” category compared to statewide results. This demonstrates not only our ability to support high achievers but also our success in helping more students reach grade-level expectations.
Across all grades Kasson-Mantorville students outperform the state average by 5 to 23 percentage points. These results are a true celebration of the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the unwavering support of families and our community. Kasson-Mantorville’s tradition of excellence continues to shine, and I am honored to lead a district that is setting such a strong example of student success in Minnesota.
