K-M/Triton powerlifting opens their season
The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton powerlifting team opened their season on Saturday at Adams-Friendship High School in Wisconsin. The meet was a Wisconsin state meet and featured 120 lifters competing from nine different schools.
In the girls’ division, Dani Lannin placed third in the 132-pound class. With a three lift total of 395 pounds (135 squat, 75 bench and 185 deadlift), she improved her total score by 50 pounds from the team’s opening meet. Laura Kosberg also impressed by finishing sixth in the 148-pound class.
For the men, Alex McElmury (123 pounds) finished second on varsity and barely missed taking home first-place by a couple more pounds on his deadlift. Jake Pederson (second-place) and Nick Westphal (third) also had solid performances in the 132-pound class.
Quinn Zipse made his debut in the 148-pound class for the KoMets at the meet and finished second with a three lift total of 490. The total was a 100-pound improvement from his previous performance at the K-M invite. Meanwhile, Trenton Kruger moved down to 165 pounds and finished third.
