K-M/Triton, Byron gymnasts have good week
K-M/Triton gymnasts roll-up program high score
Kasson-Mantorville/Triton’s gymnastics team battled a formidable Caledonia squad, on Friday, December 15. It was the K-M/Triton Varsity kids who emerged victorious, edging Caledonia, and posting a team program high score of 131.125 to 127.4.
Eleanor Smith and Audrey Peterson placed 1st and 2nd in the all — around, scoring a 34.7 and 32.65 respectively. Eleanor also placed first on vault, with a 8.975, first on beam, with a 9.375, and first on floor, with a 8.95. She placed third on bars with a 7.4.
Alexie Awe placed first on bars, with a 7.575, third on beam (8.375), and third on floor (8.775). Audrey Peterson placed second on bars (7.475) and second on beam (8.525).
Junior Varsity also won with a season high of 103.1 to Caledonia’s 96.95. Jovie Arnold and Bella Huerta placed first and second in all — around with a 26.75 and 23.95. Jovie Arnold also placed second on vault (7.8), third on bars (5.1), and second on beam (6.7). Kembia Nelson took first on bars with a 6.35. Isabella Huerta placed second on bars with a 5.35. Ava Stevenson placed third on beam with a 6.3 and third on floor with a 7.2. Ellie Hruska placed second on floor with a 7.4. “The girls had a great competition and continue to improve at every meet,” saidCoach Holly Olmscheid.
Byron gymnastics team stays undefeated
The Byron girls gymnastics team improved to 3-0 on Thursday, December 14, with their win over PIZM (Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa). The girls scored 136.55 to PIZM’s 129.525. The girls were be in Winona on Saturday, December 16, for an Invite and then will be off until after the holiday break.
The girls got things started on vault, with Byron sweeping the top four spots. Sydney Portner took the top spot with an 8.925. Teammates Olivia O’Brien, Norah Brown and Lydia Evans, all finished close behind. Olivia scored an 8.9, Norah and Lydia tied with an 8.875. Ella Ott rounded out the group in fifth with an 8.675.
On bars the girls had four in the top five. Lydia Evans put together another clean routine, taking the top spot with an 8.35. Sydney Portner was close behind in second with an 8.225. Ella Ott and Olivia O’Brien finished fourth and fifth with solid scores of 7.875 and 7.85, respectively. Jocie Halfman rounded out the bar group in seventh with a score of 7.7. The girls swept the top three spots on beam and had four in the top five. Lydia Evans scored an 8.85 to earn the top honor. Sydney Portner took second with an 8.375 and Olivia O’Brien took third with an 8.325. Jocie Halfman finished in fifth with a score of 7.95 and Ella Ott rounded out the group in seventh with a score of 7.45.
The team finished the night on floor. Sydney Portner and Lydia Evans took the top two spots. Sydney finished with a 9.15 and Lydia a 9.0. Savannah Byron finished in fifth with a score of 8.575 and Norah Brown was seventh with an 8.45. Olivia O’Brien rounded out the group in eighth with an 8.1. In the all-around the Byron girls swept the top three places. Lydia Evans finished first with a solid score of 35.075. Sydney Portner finished second with a score of 34.675 and Olivia O’Brien finished third with a score of 33.175.
