K-M senior credits others for reaching graduation
After the Sunday graduation ceremony, one Kasson-Mantorville grad spent the rest of her afternoon at her graduation party. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and teachers, the people who she said helped get her through school.
Kendra Jostock graduated from K-M High School on June 12, with the class of 2016. Her fondest memories during her time at school are the people who helped her through a difficult time.
During her junior year, Jostock went through mental health treatment. But when she returned to school, she credits teachers at K-M schools with helping her get back into the swing of things.
“When I got back, there was a teacher named Chandra Pagel,” Kendra said. “Honestly her and the guidance counselor, Mrs. Klingfus, were my biggest supporters. So for memories that stand out, it’d probably be those two. It’d be the people. Without them, like my mom said I would not have graduated, but they were such a big part of me graduating. They made high school fun and they made me feel welcomed.”
Kendra spent most of her time at K-M schools focusing on her academics, as it was something with which she struggled. Her goal was to make it on the honor roll every quarter, something she accomplished from eighth grade until the end of high school.
When she thinks back on her favorite classes, Mr. Hagerle’s history and government classes, the teacher stands out more than the subject of the class.
“I always loved his class because he told stories and he just got me really interested,” Kendra said. “It made class fun, you know? It was s
