K-M Elementary inspires kindergarten students to explore careers

Kasson Mantorville Elementary is set to host a unique initiative aimed at sparking the curiosity of its youngest learners in healthcare and emergency response professions. On Friday, March 8, 2024, kindergarten students at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary will embark on an exciting journey into the world of community service careers, as part of the district’s innovative “Immersive Experiences” program.
Under the theme of “My Community,” young minds will engage with representatives from Dodge County public health department and emergency response teams, including the American Red Cross, Dodge County Ambulance, and the Kasson and Mantorville Fire Departments. Through interactive presentations, demonstrations, and engaging activities, children will gain insights into the critical roles these fields play in our communities and the plethora of career opportunities they offer.
Ashley Kaplan, Director of Student and Staff Support Systems, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Our immersion experience days allow our KoMet learners to explore a different career field each year as they move through our system at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School. By showcasing the diverse career paths available in these fields, we hope to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals, first responders, and community leaders.”
This event marks the third installment of the “Immersive Experiences” series at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary, following successful engagements in engineering and fine arts for second- and third-grade students, respectively.
Future sessions will include earth science/geography experiences for first-grade students on April 15 and health science career explorations for fourth-grade students on May 7.
