I Was Thinking... Doing It Their Way

A body discovered near Byron City Hall on Monday was identified Tuesday as a Rochester resident reported missing after leaving work earlier this month.
The Southeast Regional Medical Examiners’ Office confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the body found near a retention pond was that of Wade Gordon, Jr. Gordon had been reported missing after he was last seen in the early morning hours of July 7 leaving his place of employment at Ornua Ingredients in Byron.
Rochester police reported at the time that a company surveillance video showed Gordon Jr. leaving the Ornua facility at 1:27 a.m. on foot and walking eastbound on Northwest Voll Drive. Family members reported it was unusual that Gordon Jr. had not contacted family or friends.
On Monday, Olmsted County law enforcement officials said they received a tip from a concerned Byron citizen that there was a “suspicious noise” around Byron City Hall a few days before.
Law enforcement responded to the tip and searched the area where they found the body of a male individual.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Medical Examiners’ Office also responded to the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday morning that the Medical Examiners’ Office would be doing an autopsy, but they had no additional information. Late Tuesday the Medical Examiner’s Office would comment only that “the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the individual found by Byron City Hall. It is Wade A. Gordon, Jr., age 39.”

But it didn’t matter, everyone was allowed to enjoy the whole experience in their own way. Obviously, one of my favorite activities of the evening was watching people.
While many attendees never leave their chairs, others can’t stop moving. Kids, with their boundless energy, run, do cartwheels, or dance with no one trying to restrict them. Many overtaken by the music just have to dance.
Most of them were women, but age didn’t matter. They ranged from teens to well over 50. However, one man persuaded partner after partner to accompany him to his favorite dance location. But by far my favorite dance couples were the little girls dancing either with mom or dad. One young man took top honors. He danced around in the grass with his daughter in one arm and his son in the other.
Everyone seemed to be happy just doing it their own way.
