Hy-Vee partners with Freedom Rock® artist to raise awareness of hunger

Hy-Vee Inc. has commissioned Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II, creator of the Freedom Rock®, to paint murals depicting Hy-Vee’s commitment to fight hunger in its eight-state region.
Sorensen will paint a specially commissioned mural to be installed at the Barlow Hy-Vee in Rochester from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, July 17.
Ray “Bubba” Sorensen II is well known throughout the country for his Freedom Rock tributes, which honor our nation’s veterans. Since 1999, he has painted the Freedom Rock with different tributes to our nation’s veterans each year.
Sorensen is the artist who painted the Freedom Rock in front of the Kasson American Legion Post which was the first one painted in Minnesota.
Sorensen currently lives in Greenfield, Iowa, with his wife, Maria, and children where they own and operate their own business, Sorensen Studios.
For a second year, Hy-Vee is partnering with national suppliers for the End Summer Hunger campaign and help provide meals to children and families in need through the Feeding America® network of food banks. Hy-Vee joins Kellogg’s, Keurig Dr Pepper, and Chobani to help fight in ending summer hunger. During the month of July, every purchase of select Kellogg’s, Keurig Dr Pepper, Chobani products at Hy-Vee at grocery stores helps provide a meal to families in need this summer.
