Home Federal victim of phishing scam
Early last week Home Federal Savings Bank was at the center of a phishing scam involving a fraudulent text message sent to both Home Federal clients and clients from other banks.
Several clients received a fraudulent text message stating that their card had been locked. The text told the receiver to follow a link to a website where they would then have to enter more personal information in order to get the card “unlocked.”
“There is no concern to anyone if they ignored or deleted the text. We advise anybody if they would’ve contacted that number and disclosed any further information to get a hold of Home Federal immediately, because we are advising that they cancel the debit card and get a new online password,” said Market President Matt Bradford, of the Kasson Home Federal location.
