Herbert Carl Daleske, 80, Hayfield
Herbert Carl Daleske, 80, passed away on July 25, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital Campus in Rochester, MN. Herb was born on February 13, 1944 in rural Dexter the son of Fredrick and Elsie (Abeld) Daleske. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended Elkton High School. He was united in marriage to Carol Ochse on March 31, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkton. Herb was a member of West St. Olaf Church for many years and served as Church Council member, Luther League advisor and was a wood project leader with 4-H. The family moved to Hayfield in 1983, and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield. The family was privileged to raise many foster children in their home.
Herb worked for the Vernon Creamery, Crenlo and Hayfield Lumber Company, retiring in 1999 and was Hayfield Citizen of the year in 1989. He enjoyed wintering in Texas, camping, fishing, gardening, auction sales, woodworking, and most of all his children and grandchildren.
Herb is survived by his wife, Carol Daleske, Hayfield; Karla (Jim) Schultz, Brian Daleske, Heidi (Chris) Tallos, Nadine Cooley, Julie Johnson; four granddaughters, Jessica Daleske, Mackenzie Carlson, Courtney Tallos, Natalie Tallos; three grandsons, Otto Daleske, Nicholas Tallos, Carter Tallos; brother, Robert (Lyla) Daleske, Somonauk, IL; four nieces, and step-sister, Mary Klopp, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Otto Daleske, step-sister, Lucille Rettig, and step-brother, Carl Daleske.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield with visitation one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials made to donor’s choice. Blessed be his memory.
