Grinch can’t steal Christmas here
Area Chambers of Commerce are not allowing the Grinch to steal Christmas 2020.
Kasson, Mantorville, Byron and West Concord area businesses are launching an all out attack on the Grinch and hosting activities targeting moms, dads, kids and grandparents.
Kasson’s Chamber of Commerce (KCC) is sponsoring the 12 Days of Christmas. From December 1 through 12, participating Kasson businesses will be giving books, treats, coloring pages and an assortment of crafts.
KCC will be giving kids bagged candy on Saturday, Dec. 12, when Santa Claus is scheduled to weave his way through town.
Just a heads up to homeowners who deck their home for Christmas, KCC will be conducting a Best Christmas Lighting Contest. Register by Dec. 1 to have your home on the list. Winners will be given $50 to $200 for the best Christmas decorations. Information about the contest is listed on the KCC website (kassonchamber.org) and its Facebook site.
Byron Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for the 2020 Virtual BrrrFest on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11 & 12.
Friday’s event kicks off with the Byron Tree Lighting and a Christmas message from Mayor Daryl Glassmaker. Friday’s event starts at 6 p.m.
Saturday’s finale is at 7 p.m. with fireworks from the Byron Community and Recreation Complex (BCRC).
Keep in mind that a virtual coloring display, Bear paw print hunt will be conducted all weekend throughout the City of Byron with prizes.

Mantorville’s Olde Fashioned Christmas has Santa scheduled to land on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. Santa will park his sleigh at the Opera House for families, sweethearts and grandparents to use as a photo prop. In addition, the Mantorville Farmers Market will continue on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information contact terry@mantorvillefarms.com
Christmas in West Concord will conduct a silent auction. Virtual bidding on donated baskets began Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. Baskets will be numbered and displayed in city hall windows and also entered onto the auction website: https://citywestconcord.betterworld.org/auctions/christmas (also linked on the Christmas in West Concord Flyer, City of West Concord-Mayor Facebook Page and City Website) for viewing. All bidding and payment will be conducted online via the website. Prior registration on the website is encouraged as an account will need to be set-up. Proceeds will go to any outstanding balances for the Christmas in West Concord Event with remainder to go to the Memorial Park Project. Virtual Bidding began on Dec. 1 and will end promptly on Dec. 5, 2020, at 3:30 p.m.
Sold baskets will be available for socially distanced pick-up—mask required, in front of City Hall starting at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 5 p.m., Dec. 5, 2020. Any remaining baskets left after that time can have arrangements made for pick-up at City Hall Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. by calling 527-2668.
