A Glimpse of Steele County

Heading into March the old weather saying is if that March comes in like a lion it is going to go out like a lamb. Or Vice versa.
In Blooming Prairie this saying goes out the window during the third month of the year. 
Each month the Blooming Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce sends out a little piece entitled “What will I be missing in Blooming Prairie if leave town this month? And in March there will be a lot that will be missed if people leave town.
Every weekend there is some activity going on in March. It all starts off with a weekday activity - the 96th Birthday of the American Legion on March 5 with a social starting at 5:30 p.m. This first weekend is the first-ever Chamber Broomball Tournament. 
This event is being held at the Blooming Prairie ice rink and starts with an 8:30 a.m. contest for younger children, grades 1-6. Then the older children – seventh-grade through adults – play at 9:30 a.m. It sounds like it is going to be an exciting time for those of all ages.
On March 12, the Pizza Cellar is the place for the Blooming Prairie Cancer Group Ham Bingo. Then on March 14, the Blooming Prairie Servicemen’s Club will hold a murder and mystery dinner. On March 20, back at the Servicemen’s Club will be the annual Knights of Columbus Fish Fry. The month ends with the 12th annual Blooming Prairie Education Foundation live and silent auctions at the Pizza Cellar and Cue Company on March 28.
March will provide plenty of different opportunities for those living in Blooming Prairie or wish to participate from outside the community. And the best thing about many of the activities is that most of them are family-oriented events allowing adults and their children to get together for some quality family time and just an all-around good time.
