A Glimpse of Dodge County

It can take 15 minutes to change your life. And that is exactly what happened to me.
Between 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 I have no recollection of what happened to me. I had just finished taking photos at Blooming Prairie High School of the drug dogs checking out the school grounds and was on my way to meet with Blooming Prairie Police Chief Greg Skillestad for follow-up information.
I guess I never made it. The last thing I remember was walking into the city center and then outside up the ramp to the police chief’s office. The next thing I saw was EMT Ashley Schmeling telling me it was going to be okay and Lynn Borchert (co-worker) was saying the same thing in the ambulance. In the end, I was diagnosed with a major head trauma or concussion.
More than a month later, I still get dizzy spells and headaches, but according to the doctors that is normal. I also have short-term memory loss; which at least one doctor says could occur, but should get better as time progresses.
