Gerald “Jerry” Dean Sackett of Dodge Center, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. He was born May 3, 1932 to Floyd and Wanda (Kramer) Sackett. He married the love of his life, Joann (Love) on October 28, 1953 and they had three children.

Jerry had a passion for playing chess and shooting pool. He was always singing, especially to his grandkids. He spent 24 years as a pipeline welder, working across the U.S. including Alaska, as well as owning multiple wrecking yards both in Minnesota and Arizona. Jerry started his first junkyard in Dodge Center in 1973. Being a junkyard man was in his blood! Jerry moved his family to Arizona in 1972 and lived there for 45 years before moving back to Dodge County, Minnesota. 

Jerry is survived by his children, Randy (Lois) Sackett of Dodge Center, MN, Patti Stafford of Dodge Center, MN, and Monica (Mike) of Buffalo Center, IA; sisters, Peg Mattson, Bev Barry, Barb (Ron) Post, Philly Posey, and Jeannie (Gary) Johnson, all of Dodge Center, MN. He is also survived by 12 grandkids, 21 great-grandkids and two great-great-grandkids on the way. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; his parents, Floyd and Wanda; his sister Betty and his two brothers, Dick and Denny.
