Fire damages Johnson Hardware

A fire last Wednesday at Johnson Hardware, 14 1st Ave. SW, in Dodge Center caused extensive damage to the building.
The Dodge Center Fire Department was called to the location about 7 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from the building, Fire Chief Jeremy Dostal said.
When fire crews arrived, they found that the fire was starting to come through the roof. They were able to contain the fire to the shop area and the attic above the shop, Dostal said, although there was smoke damage throughout the building.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
They cleared the scene about 10:15 p.m., Dostal said.
Fire Departments from Kasson and Claremont also responded to the fire and the Dodge Center Ambulance was also on standby at the scene.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, he said.
