Filings for local offices begins Aug. 2

Individuals interested in filing for local city councils and school boards may file for election beginning 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, with the filing period ending at 5 p.m. on Aug. 16.
Locally there are open positions for city councils in Byron, Claremont, Dodge Center, Hayfield, Kasson, Mantorville and West Concord and school boards in the Byron, Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville and Triton School Districts.
Open seats on City Councils include:
In Byron, terms are expiring for seats currently held by Dan Mesenburg and Justin Blom. In Claremont, there is a vacant seat on the council.
In Dodge Center, terms are expiring for seats held by Mayor Bill Ketchum and Councilmembers Paul Blaisdell and Gary Trelstad. In Hayfield, terms are expiring for the mayor and two councilmembers.
In Kasson the terms of Mayor Chris McKern and Councilmember Melisa Ferris are expiring. In Mantorville, the term of Mayor Chuck Bradford expires.
In West Concord, the terms of Councilmembers Karen Peterson and Sam Schollmeier are expiring.
