Erdmans soon to become Dollar Fresh

Erdman’s Country Market in Kasson will make the transition to a Dollar Fresh grocery store in coming weeks. Hy-Vee, Inc. will officially take over the grocery store on Oct. 1.
After a brief remodel the store will reopen under the Dollar Fresh banner, according to Tina Potthoff, senior vice president for communications at Hy-Vee’s corporate office in Des Moines. She estimated the complete remodel will take about six weeks although there will only be a brief period where the store will not be open.
All former Erdman’s employees will be offered positions at either the Kasson Dollar Fresh or a nearby Hy-Vee store in Rochester, she said. There are enough openings at the Rochester Hy-Vee stores for all qualified Erdman’s employees, Potthoff said.
The Dollar Fresh banner is one of Hy-Vee’s newest brands, and represents a new way for communities to experience Hy-Vee’s commitment to providing high-quality products, great values and outstanding service, she said.
Dollar Fresh stores are owned by Hy-Vee, but operate under their own brand. All Dollar Fresh employees are Hy-Vee, Inc. employees and enjoy access to the same benefits.
Dollar Fresh stores focus on offering a variety of products that offer great value, with competitive pricing on national brands and a full range of private label products. Dollar Fresh locations also feature a Wall of Value, a dollar section, a pallet drop area, and a full selection of health, beauty and cosmetics offerings. 
Erdman’s final day of business will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, closing for the last time at 6 p.m. The company has announced a final clearance sale on selected items Sept. 28-30.
Erdman’s County Market has been operating in Kasson for 95 years, company officials said.
