Dodge County Showdown

One year ago, the Kasson-Mantorville and Triton football teams hit the field at KMTelecom Stadium in anticipation for what the 2015 season would bring. For the Cobras, their 20-6 victory that afternoon helped set the tone for a 7-3 year that was fueled by a strong pass rush and steady ground game. Meanwhile the KoMets never got themselves set as injuries and transitions played a key factor in a 4-6 season.
On Thursday night, both teams will get a chance to get off to a great start for 2016. The two schools will meet in the opener for the third straight season and it will act as a rubber match with K-M claiming a 30-6 victory at Triton in 2014. Either way, it’s a great opportunity not only for bragging rights, but to get in the left hand column to start the year.
The Cobras will begin the year looking to establish depth behind their strong starting lineup. The Cobras lost several seniors from last year’s squad, but still have the services of seniors Leif Bungum, Zack Summers and Damon Wright. They’ll also have a strong contribution from the junior class featuring Brady Essig, Levi Smith and Josh Willette.
