Council to replat Mathias Subdivision

With one lot sold and two more sales nearing completion the West Concord City Council last week gave its approval to replatting a portion of the subdivision to make the lots more lucrative.
The city currently has lots available in the subdivision located in the southwest corner of West Concord. The city’s Economic Development Association has been promoting the lots that are offered at a price less than those in areas being offered by commercial developers.
The council has been considering replatting that would reduce the number of lots but enlarge the size of several of the smaller ones.
“Now that we have buyers, let’s replat it and get it done,” EDA member Dan Rabe told councilmembers.
The two lots that have pending agreements are at 608 and 609 6th St.
One issue that needs to be resolved with the replatting is determining exactly where sewer, water and utilities are located on the lots that will be replatted.
The council also discussed a complaint about the recent sealcoat project. Bob Klapperich contacted the city with a complaint about ruts in the street alongside his house left by the road crew sealcoating.
City engineer Joe Palen said the damage was apparently caused by sealcoating done earlier this summer. He said he had looked at the ruts and believed they were caused because no one realized the road was as soft as it had become due to rains.
