Cobras pick up first win of the season

The Triton girls basketball team has been searching for their first win through the first month of the season, but has found little success. Whether it be poor shooting, turnovers or a stroke of bad luck, the Cobras haven’t been able to find their way into the left-hand column in 2015.
Fortunately, all streaks have to come to an end. On their eighth try, the Cobras broke through and picked up their first victory of the season against Trinity School of River Ridge 42-30 on Dec. 30.
As the second game of the tournament, Triton didn’t play the cleanest game. They shot just 32 percent from the floor and 2-for-8 from three-point range. However, the Cobras played tremendous defense as Trinity shot just 21 percent and 3-for-13 from behind the arc.
The Cobras also saw a balanced scoring effort as Alexis Melder lead the team with 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Triton also had strong offensive efforts from Jordana Foote (eight points), Haley Yankowiak (seven points) and Claudia Hodgman (six points). Tatyanna Bond also pitched in with five points for Triton while Kiara Boeck and Elle Meyer each had a bucket in the win.
