Celebrating a decade at Triton
As I enter my tenth year at Triton schools and my twenty-first year in education, I h ave been reflecting on the differences and similarities during my time as an educator. Each school year is a different experience with unique challenges, opportunities, and celebrations. One consistent piece at the start of each school year is a renewed energy and excitement for the opportunities ahead and an appreciation for the staff, students, families, and Triton community.
At Triton, we believe a successful school is built on the foundation of a dedicated staff, engaged families, hard-working students, and a supportive community. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to earn the trust of the Triton community by ensuring we improve student outcomes and experiences, and do so in a way that aligns with a community collective vision.
Over the past month, all Triton taxpayers were invited to participate in a survey conducted by School Perceptions. This was done to better understand the direction our community wanted to move, to focus on what we are doing well, and identify areas of needed improvement. Part of this survey was designed to gather additional information on a potential tax increase to help meet our budget needs. We feel that gathering information and input is a necessary step to make sure we honor our commitments.
Transparency is crucial for school and community partnerships. We will be using survey data to develop goals and implement strategies for continued improvement. It is important to make sure the survey results are available to the public and reported directly from School Perceptions. School Perceptions presented their survey report to the Board of Education at the July School Board Meeting, which led to the scheduling of a Special Board Meeting on Monday, August 4. All School Board Meeting videos, agendas, and minutes are available on the Triton Webpage by clicking on “menu” and then “school board” www.triton.k12.mn.us. There is also a video provided by School Perceptions on the survey results on the webpage.
As we develop improvement plans, it is also important to slow down, take a step back, and honor the great things happening. Our wonderful team has many individuals who have been working hard to make sure we will be ready to prioritize learning and positive student experiences when school starts. The hard work and dedication by our team helps make Triton a special place to learn and work.
