Cecile Fossum, 99, Hayfield

Cecile Fossum, 99, died July 21 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield where she had resided since August 2022. Cecile was born December 22, 1923, in Vernon Township, Dodge County. She was baptized and confirmed at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Hayfield.
She married Lloyd Fossum on February 1, 1941, at West St. Olaf Church by Pastor D.J. Borge. Cecile served as a Sunday School teacher at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was a faithful member of the choir and the West St. Olaf Ladies Aid.
In 1999, Lloyd and Cecile sold their farm and moved to Kasson. In their retirement, they enjoyed many fiddle contests and entertaining at area nursing homes, retirement centers, churches, and the Fiddler's Group that met at the Hayfield Community Center. Cecile also started the Birthday Club Group, with a farm neighbor, which still meets to this day and has grown in number.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Joyce) of St. Cloud, a daughter Yvonne Back of Lake Mills, Iowa, three grandchildren, Kari Eagle (Nick), David Back (Aubrey), and Kjerstin Hulke (Tony), and great-granddaughters Morgan Hulke, McKenna Hulke, and Gloriana Eagle. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, brothers Curtis, Dayton, and Russel.
Memorials are preferred to West St. Olaf Church or Fieldcrest Care Center.
Funeral Services are planned for Saturday, August 5, at West St. Olaf Church with visitation starting at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.
