Byron overwhelms KM to win girls’ soccer section title
The Byron Bears girls soccer team won their second consecutive Section 1AA championship in dominating fashion, on a rainy Tuesday night in Winona.
Byron came into the match with a 10-0-2 record, having beat the 7-3-2 Komets by a score of 5-0 on Sept. 30.
Byron’s offense dominated the first half with two goals. Raegan Kelm scored the first, just three minutes into the match, and Avery Rossow landed the second. Kasson-Mantorville’s defense was busy, with the ball being in their territory for much of the half.
The Bears kept up the pace in the second, adding two more goals. With the ball deep in KM’s zone, Jadyn Baumbach scored on a cross pass. With a kick over the reach of the goal keeper’s hand, Rossow added her second goal of the match at 36 minutes, making the final score 4-0.
