BREAKING NEWS: Two men arrested in machete assault in Hayfield

Two men have been taken into custody after an early morning machete assault in Hayfield.
Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose said the two men are being held in the Steele County Detention Center in Owatonna pending formal charges, which are expected Thursday morning.
Deputies responded to the 100 block of 1st Avenue NE in Hayfield around 1:48 a.m. Wednesday to a fight-in-progress. When officers arrived, they found two men yelling in one of the apartments. The two told police they had been drinking at a local bar and received a ride home from an unknown man. They said when they got to the apartment, the man tried to rob them and they fought him off.
Minutes later as deputies were taking the report from the two men, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call from the 900 block of 3rd Avenue SE reporting a man was there with his head cut open and bleeding uncontrollably.
When deputies arrived at that scene, they found a man standing in the driveway with large amounts of blood pooling on the ground. The man had a large deep wound on the left side of his face and head.
The victim told police two men assaulted him with a machete in an apartment after leaving the bar. He was transported by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Sheriff Rose said the man is expected to survive.
More details will be released tomorrow when the two men are charged in court.
