BREAKING NEWS: Dodge County crash kills man

An early morning crash Tuesday has taken the life of a 66-year-old man in Dodge County.
Severt R. Fiksen of Dodge Center was killed in the crash on Highway 56 north of Hayfield. He was driving a Ford Focus that smashed head-on into a Chevy Silverado.
The State Patrol reported that the Chevy was northbound on Highway 56 when it attempted to pass another vehicle and struck the Ford head-on around 5:37 a.m. The driver of the Chevy, Timothy R. Tlougan, 19, of Hayfield was seriously injured in the crash.
Highway 56 was closed for four hours after the crash for clean-up and reconstruction.
The State Patrol was assisted by Hayfield Fire and Rescue, Hayfield Ambulance, Dodge Center Fire and Rescue, Dodge Center Ambulance, Gold Cross and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
Weather conditions at the time were reported to be foggy, and may have contributed to the crash.
According to the State Patrol, both drivers were wearing their seat belts and no alcohol is believed to be involved.
