Barbara Scheiber, 90, Dodge Center

Barbara Joanne Scheiber, 90, of Dodge Center, formerly of West Concord, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center with her family by her side.

She was born March 21, 1935, in Jackson, to Marvin and Audrey (Tursky) Kienietz. Barbara attended school in Lakefield before being united in marriage to Arlyn Alvin Scheiber on March 31, 1955, in Worthington. Barbara stayed at home and took care of the children until they moved away. After she and Arlyn were empty nesters, she worked at the Triton School District, holding many different roles from teacher’s aide to the lunchroom. In her free time, Barb made homemade jewelry, and many other crafts. Most of all, Barbara loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would look forward to spending the holidays and celebrations with her family in a well-decorated house to celebrate the event.

Barbara is survived by her children, Monica Svien of Kenyon, Mark (and Tracy) Scheiber of Plainview, Michele (and Kevin) Lawson of Dodge Center, Melissa (and Phil) Leaman of Longville, Monty (and Emily) Scheiber of Zumbrota; step-daughter, Lori (and Philip) Collins of Nashua, Mont.; grandchildren, Nathan, Jackie, Kristin, Brad, Jesse, Matt, Jeff, Derek, Lindsay and Andrew; 23 great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Kellie, Erik and Boedy; brother, Rick Kienietz; sister, Ronnie Garloff; niece, Daun Jackson; nephew, Darren Garloff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlyn; parents, Marvin and Audrey; sister, Marna Christensen; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Leaman; son-in-law, John Svien.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, 11 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Fairview Care Center for the years of tender love and care they gave to Barbara and Arlyn.
