Art Guild continues to provide supplies, chalk to youngsters

The Mantorville Art Guild’s project to offer free art supplies and sidewalk chalk to residents has proved to be successful with the group replenishing the supplies daily. Members also reminded the community that they intend to offer the summer art camps this summer although the exact dates are not known.
The first day of the project the tubs were put out on the Art Guild porch with 58 packets, said Theresa Hoaglund. When she checked the next morning, she said, there were only 17 packets left.
She said she checks the supply every morning and there are always some packets gone.
The Art Guild plans on continuing to place the supplies out for the youngsters, she said, until the stay-at-home orders are lifted. At some point this summer, she said, the Art Guild intends to offer their popular summer art camps although the exact dates will depend on conditions.
Anyone who would like to donate items for the project is welcome to do so, Hoaglund said. Sidewalk chalk is getting increasingly difficult to find, she added, and that has been a popular item.
She added that Guild members would like to encourage those who pick up the sidewalk chalk to put some of their drawings on the sidewalks in downtown Mantorville.
Art supplies and packets may be picked up on the front porch of the Art Guild located at 521 N. Main St., Mantorville.
