Area wrestlers headed to state tourney

Multiple girl wrestlers from the area are headed to the state tournament as individuals, including multiple wrestlers who won section championships last weekend.
Triton’s Adriana Kunz won every match in the section tournament, to win the 100 pound weight class.
Byron had five girls who placed at the Section tournament.
“Overall we had a great day,” Head Coach Ryan Radke said. “ We came into the day with five girls and left with five Section Place Winners. Hattie Mathre is now a 2 time Section Champion. This is Madi Hamilton’s first Section Championship. Kadie Augenstein will go to State for the first time. The girls battled hard all weekend.”
Mathre won the 136 pound weight class, and Hamilton won the 235 pounds weight class.
Augenstein came in second in the 170 pound weight class, Claire Behle came in fifth for the 130 pound weight class, and Brooke Golish finished sixth in the 148 pound weight class.
For K-M Eliana O`Donoghue finished 12 in the 100 pound weight class, Alivija Henaman finished 12 in the 112 pound weight class, Kaydee Fitch placed 12 in the 124 pound weight class, Aubrey Devens finished 12 in the 130 pound weight class, and Jorja Fjerstad finished 12 in the 136 pound weight class.
