Another Roller Coaster Summer
Throughout the summer I find myself getting out of the house more than I usually would in past years. I’ve been busy with family trips, dance practices, and my job. I’m starting to notice how busy I’ve become. I kind of like it.
To add to my already eventful summer, my friends and I have decided to take a trip to Valley Fair, which is going to prove itself to be rather eventful.
Valley Fair is where I first went on a roller coaster, and at the startling age of 13 I finally took on the old rickety white roller coaster that sits by the entrance of Valley Fair.
My uncle was the one to convince me to get on. I didn’t regret it.
Later that very same summer my other uncle, who traveled across the country to come see us, decided it was a great idea to take us again. That time the Kujath family accompanied us on our trip, as my family had been well acquainted with them since high school.
Somehow they got me onto the Power Tower, and I realized I didn’t enjoy the feeling of falling as much as I thought I did.
Last summer we trekked up to the Twin Cities again to go to Valley Fair, but it wasn’t with my friends. While going up with my sister and her friends was a good adventure, I think I’ll enjoy this trip more with my own friends.
When I asked my mom if I could squeeze six girls into her Ford Explorer, she looked more than startled. I don’t think she thought I had the guts to ask her if I could so much as drive to Rochester, much less the Twin Cities.
Somehow she gave in to the idea, but I think it was more my dad’s doing than my mom’s. My sister was strictly against it in the beginning, saying that so many girls in the car would surely distract me. My mom soon reminded her that she had done the same thing last year, except with more girls in the car.
She changed her thinking pretty quickly.
I’m not easily distracted, especially when it comes to driving. I’m definitely not as confident about my parking skills.
But we'll just have to see how that turns out.
