1 Constitutional Amendment on Minnesota ballot

Minnesota voters will be asked to vote on a constitutional amendment to the State Constitution regarding the Environment and Natural Trust Fund renewal.
The trust fund is partly funded by proceeds from the Minnesota State Lottery system and has provided more than $1 billion for more than 1,600 projects statewide since 1991. The money is dedicated to pay for activities and projects that protect, conserve and preserve the state’s natural resource — air, water, fish, and wildlife — for the benefit of all Minnesotans.
The amendment on the ballot will extend the arrangement allocating 40% of state lottery proceeds to the fund that is currently set to expire in 2025.
 
The ballot question reads:
“Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to protect drinking water sources and the water quality of lakes, rivers, and streams; conserve wildlife habitat and natural areas; improve air quality; and expand access to parks and trails by extending the transfer of proceeds from the state-operated lottery to the environment and natural resources trust fud, and to dedicate the proceeds for these purposes.
