A party of different sorts

Over the years I’ve been known to come up with a variety of ways to have a party. Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, graduations, confirmations, game nights, Grinch get-togethers, and the list goes on. Sometimes it really doesn’t even need to be anything real special for me to throw a party.

Track and Field is the best sport

For the past 10 years I have been involved in the sport of track and field either as athlete or a coach, competing in both high school and at the Division 2 collegiate level.
Although I have been involved with the sport for so long, 10 years ago I couldn’t have imagined myself ever being apart of a track and field team.

My friend CeCe: the story of overcoming adversity

Earlier this year, one of my best friends from college and college teammate, CeCe, got a lot of attention in the news and especially on social media, after Donald Trump Jr., the son of President Donald Trump tweeted very mean things about her.
Trump Jr. sent out tweets, ultimately accusing her of being a cheater, because she made the switch from being apart of the Men’s Track and Field program to the Women’s team.

A time for remembrance, not summer fun

May is a time of memorial remembrances.
In the coming week, many people will be heading out to area cemeteries to remember loved ones who have gone on from this world. Memorial Day will be observed across the region on Monday.
While Memorial Day has turned into the unofficial start of the summer season, it’s important to not forget its real meaning.

Transparency is so important

Ever since I was introduced into the journalism world four years ago, I have realized that the most important thing for any entity when dealing with media outlets big or small is being open and honest.
Over the course of the last few years, I have realized that the best relationships I have built with sources were with people who always had an open dialogue with the press.

Another life milestone for son

It was with enormous pride that I watched my son graduate this past weekend from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with family and friends cheering him on.

It’s okay to be undecided

As seniors get ready to graduate from high school in the next few weeks, they’ll undoubtedly be asked the tough question often of “what do you want to do with the rest of your life?”
I remember when I was 18 and getting ready to head off to college, people would always ask me that question, and quite frankly it was very overwhelming.
