Sweep 16 is getting old

What a deflating end to what had been such a promising season.
I’m sure I’m not alone in wallowing my disgust and frustration over how the season has ended for the Minnesota Twins. Our AL Central champions have now inherited the label of “Sweep 16.”

Uncovering the truth about community journalism

As long as I can remember, the newspaper always played a relevant role in the community I grew up in as well as in my own life.

Get back on the Twins bandwagon

The Minnesota Twins are champions again, claiming the Central Division crown in the American League with 101 victories.
If you have been on the Twins bandwagon before and jumped off, jump back on and enjoy the excitement of possibly heading to another World Series.
The 2019 regular season has been a great ride thus far for those of us who call ourselves dedicated Twins fans.

4-H great program for youth

Fall is a busy time for many recognition weeks of various groups and organizations. There is Clergy Appreciation Month, Newspaper Week, Fire Prevention Week, Manufacturer’s Week, Education Week and the list goes on.
But there is one that is especially meaningful to me and many youth around the country. It’s National 4-H Week, which begins Sunday and runs through Oct. 12.

It's nostalgia at the ultimate

Homecoming 2019 at Blooming Prairie High School will be nostalgia at its ultimate.
This week has featured tons of Homecoming activities designed to bring students and community together. It's a time of excitement when students and community feel a bond together.

Writing their life story important in local newspapers

It’s something nobody likes to think about. Writing an obituary for a loved one is probably the least desirable thing to do, especially in a time of grieving.

Area photographers show how they believe in community

Over the years you’ve likely heard the phrase, “It takes village to raise a child.” For obvious reasons, it often falls onto the entire community to bring up a child, especially in the world we live in today.
I have a slight variation of the common phrase as it applies to putting out a community newspaper. “It takes a village to put out a community paper.”
