No primary elections for local legislator races

Multiple Republican candidates drop out of senate race to clear way for Pierson

Absentee voting is underway for the Aug. 11 state primary elections.
Dodge County and western Olmsted Counties will have the chance to vote in the primary election for statewide offices, along with U.S Representative for Congressional District 1 in person or by mail leading up Aug. 11.
Multiple Republican candidates filed in Senate District 24 following the resignation of state Sen. Carla Nelson. Only Nels T. Pierson will be on the ballot for the Republicans, however, after the other candidates dropped out according to the Secretary of State website.
For the DFL, only Simon Glaser filed to run, meaning there will be no DFL primary.
The same is true for House District 24A where Republican incumbent Duane Quam is set to face off against DFL challenger Heather Holmes in a rematch from 2024.
In the Congressional race, Alex Eaton and endorsed candidate Jake Johnson are set to face off in the Democratic Primary, with the winner expected to face incumbent Brad Finstad who has no primary challenger.
Other races on the primary ballots include U.S Senator, Governor, Auditor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State.
Those who wish to request an absentee ballot can do so by visiting mnvotes.sos.mn.gov/abrequest/index.
To vote early in person Dodge County voters can do so by going to the Government Services Building in Mantorville.
The hours are Monday — Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Monday Aug. 10 until 5 p.m.
Absentee voting for the Nov.3 state general election begins on Sept. 18.
