Every teacher knows that there are things he or she needs for the classroom. And then there are those things that are not really needed but could definitely enhance the learning process for all students.
The “needs” are supplied by the school district but what about the “wants?”

Sunday night was the third annual Dodge Center Emergency Services picnic; a meal hosted by the Grace Lutheran Church in appreciation for the sheriff’s office employees, ambulance drivers, and firefighters that serve and protect the town. The church also invites the families of these men and women to come enjoy delicious food and the comradeship of the church.

City Administrator Lee Mattson presented a resolution regarding the 2017 Improvement Project to the Dodge Center City Council at the Sept. 26 meeting. This resolution, created after a public hearing on the project, stated that improvements to the following streets are both necessary, cost-effective and feasible:
3rd Avenue NE between 2nd Street NE and 4th Street NE
3rd Street SE between Central Avenue S and 4th Avenue SE

Claremont City Council members approved the purchase agreement for the first free lot in the city last week and also established a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District for the Al-Corn Clean Fuels expansion project.

An update on the start of the school year, a financial donation from the Dodge Center Foundation and dates for public meetings on the upcoming levy vote were all on the agenda at Monday night’s Triton Board of Education meeting.
Triton principals all reported how the first days of school went with all agreeing the year is off to a good start.

With school back in session West Concord’s summer backpack program has been declared a success.
The program provided food for those in West Concord who relied on free and reduced lunches during the school and may have received food on Fridays during the school year to get them through the weekend.
The program was the idea of Shannon Lisowski and Lisa Westlund but the entire community became involved, Lisowski said.
