Wildcats pick up their first pair of victories

Throughout the first six games of the season, the Dodge County Wildcats had been improving, but were still looking for their first victory. However, since their opening game against St. Paul Como Park that slipped away in overtime, they had been making strides.

This past week, the Wildcats broke through, avenging their loss to the Cougars and picking up their first home victory against Bagley. While they had setbacks against Chaska and Minneapolis, the wins have to be a shot in the arm for a team that needed a little boost of confidence.

On Dec. 15, that boost may have seemed miles away. The Wildcats hosted Chaska, but held their own throughout the first period. While they were outshot 12-5 in the first frame, they were able to get a goal from Isaac Thoe to go into the locker room down 2-1.

The second period was a different story.  The Hawks came out with an offensive flurry as they outshot the Wildcats 26-0. With Dodge County unable to generate any offense, Chaska registered five straight goals and cruised to a 9-1 victory.

The result had to be disappointing, but the Wildcats kept their focus traveling to St. Paul Como Park on Dec. 17.  Perhaps motivated by their opening night defeat, the Wildcats rattled off three straight goals.
