A crowd of Cobras swarm a Schaefer Academy player on Jan. 5. Triton was able to pick up their second victory of the season over the Lions in that game.

Triton rebounds against K-W

The Triton boys basketball team had a tough week dropping games to Cannon Falls and Lake City, but were able to rebound to defeat Kenyon-Wanamingo to close out the week.

The week began with a trip to Cannon Falls on Jan. 5 as the Cobras tried to solve their woes playing on the road. After a first half in which they played evenly with the Bombers, Triton fell behind in the second half and wound up falling by a score of 71-63.

The key stat of the game was the turnover margin as the Cobras had a 19-9 disadvantage in that category. The carelessness with the ball cost Triton at the end and made stellar efforts by Garrett Dahms (27 points) and Isaiah Wannarka (16 points) obsolete.

The Cobras tried to turn things around on Friday when Lake City paid a visit, but the top team in the HVL had other ideas. The Tigers were able to do what they wanted as they forced the Cobras into bad decisions and found multiple easy baskets on the other end.

With a 68 percent clip from the floor, Triton couldn’t keep up and found themselves trailing 39-15 at halftime en route to a 78-39 defeat.
