Thome, Hemann sign letters of intent
Two standouts on the Kasson-Mantorville softball team made their collegiate commitments official on April 14 as Chante Thome and McKenzie Hemann signed their letters of intent.
Thome, a pitcher for the KoMets, signed with Kentucky State and has been impressive during the early part of the season. With a 4-1 record and 2.17 ERA, she has already shown her worth to the team and picked up her first perfect game just hours before signing on the dotted line in a 10-0 victory over Lake City.
“When I went [to Kentucky State], it just felt right,” Thome said of her commitment. “It had everything that I wanted for school and to be a part of that softball program just seemed like a great fit for me.”
Meanwhile, Hemann has also been a strong leader for K-M as she’s played stellar at second base and has the bat to back it up at the plate with a .643 average, a home run and 7 RBI. With her play, she earned a spot on the Viterbo University roster beginning next season.
