KoMets begin to hit their stride

The Kasson-Mantorville softball team is looking to run a string of wins together as they head into postseason play next week. With stellar pitching from the arm of Chante Thome and power at the plate, the KoMets are beginning to play their best softball of the year as they head toward the end of May.

The KoMets kicked off their week by traveling to Hayfield for a HVL matchup. This game wasn’t close early as the KoMets jumped out to a 8-0 lead by the end of the fifth inning. 

As K-M pulled away, it was power at the plate that helped fuel their 12-1 victory over the Vikings. Catcher Addison Murry went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of home runs and four RBI and MiKayla Grant also added a home run. Katie Harrington and Meredith Wright each added an RBI while Stephanie Meyer, Emily Keller and Maddie Bigelow all recorded a hit.

Chante Thome added 10 strikeouts in seven innings as the KoMets’ earned another conference victory.

The KoMets would stay hot as they hosted Stewartville on Monday afternoon. After a quiet first inning, K-M came to life in the second putting up eight runs to blow the game open early.
