KMT beats school record; falls to Byron
A number of records were broken at Kasson-Mantorville last week.
The Byron gymnastics team defeated Kasson-Mantorville/Triton and PIZM last week, in a meet at K-M last week.
Byron finished with a season team best of 141.7.
In the all-around Byron swept with Olivia O’Brien winning the event with a score of 35.975, Sydney Portner finished second with a score of 35.875, and Norah Brown finished third with a score of 35.6.
Byron also set a near team vault record with a score of 36.95 beating the old record of 36.7.
O’Brien scored a 9.525, Brown scored a 9.375, Portner finished with a score of 9.15 and Ella Ott and Ava Mertesdorf each scored an 8.9 for the fourth score.
K-M also had a season high and beat another school record with a score of 136.55.
“We won against PIZM but fell to Byron,” Head Coach Holly Olmscheid said. “We had a great meet. As we head into our Conference and Section meets, we have a few things to clean up, but the gymnasts are continuing to work hard and improve each day.”
Alexie Awe finished fourth in the all around with a new personal record of 35.2, third on bars with a score of 8.325, and fifth on beam with a personal record and a first ever nine on that event scoring a 9.1.
Eleanor Smith finished second on bars with a score of 8.4, and second on beam with a score of 9.25.
