Colvin signs letter of intent with SDSMT
If there were a phrase that could describe Kasson-Mantorville senior runner Ben Colvin, it would be a role model. As one of the standouts on both the K-M cross country and track and field teams, Colvin has excelled on both platforms and turned it into an athletic career at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology beginning next fall.
“Ben is a kid you cheer for,” K-M track and field coach Erik Myran explained. “You want him to have success. He’s kind of a quiet guy, but the younger kids want to follow and look up to him. He’s been awesome to have on the team.”
K-M cross country coach Jared Pittman echoed those sentiments referring as Colvin’s willingness to be a role model for the younger kids on any team he participates on.
“Ben was by far the best role model we’ve had in a long time,” Pittman declared. “He was the hardest worker and he did stuff as hard as he could to the best of his abilities. You just knew he was doing exactly what he needed to do and as far as a leader for the younger kids, you couldn’t really ask for much more.”
