Cobras begin to hit their stride in home tournaments

Boys and girls teams record best scores of season

The Triton golf team is beginning to hit their stride during the middle part of the schedule as they had two solid performances at the Dodge County Country Club last week. The golfers were able to play well and add a couple more medalists to a season that has already had plenty of them.

The week started out with the Dodge Invitational on April 26 and the boys and girls took home their share of accolades. On the boys side, Ethan Otterbein lead the way by shooting a 77, which was good for second in the tournament behind Matt Moskal of Cannon Falls (72). Teammate Jaden Theimann also finished fourth by shooting a 79. Austin Gillund (90) and Abe Myer (96) rounded out the scoring for the Cobras who finished tied with Cannon Falls for first with a team score of 342. 

On paper, the finish sounds great, but Triton coach Joe Hansen thought their was room for improvement.

“While we did have a few place winners, it would have been nice to play a little bit better,” Hansen admitted. “I hope that we learned something and can move forward from this point and head into the second half of the season.”

Theimann would continue playing great golf at Monday’s Triton Invitational as he shot a 73 to finish in first. He was also joined by a pair of teammates as Gillund finished second (76) and Otterbein finished third (77). With Myer rounding things out with a 90, the Cobr
