Boys soccer blanks Stewartville
The K-M boys soccer team racked up its third straight win as it surged past Stewartville 2-0 on Tuesday night. The victory was key in the HVL and continues the momentum the team has established since opening the year without a win in its first two games.
Junior Kolin Johnson got the KoMets (3-1-1) on the board with a hard shot from the left. The shot deflected off a Stewartville defender and into the back of the net to put K-M ahead midway through the first half.
“The Stewartville field was a little smaller than we are used to,” head coach Dave Bahr said. “It took a while for our players to get going and Stewartville played a very tight marking game, so we were happy to come away with the win.”
Several minutes later, a hard run to the net by Corbin Slaymaker was interrupted by a Tiger defender inside the penalty box. Senior captain Daniel Woodrum would bury the ensuing penalty kick to put the KoMets ahead 2-0.
