SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

Organizational Meeting

Monday, January 7, 2019-5 pm

Site: DACS Board Room

Members present: Sharon Kreitinger, Chris Schmit, Harvey Bergh, Craig Fuchs, Jan Reed Members absent: Tessa Olive, Mark Chilson. Superintendent Dr. Joey Page was present 

Pledge of Allegiance.

Tessa Olive arrived at 5:05 p.m.

Chair Sharon Kreitinger administered the Oath of Office to re-elected and newly elected board members, Harvey Bergh, Craig Fuchs and Jan Reed.

Approved organizational meeting agenda

Sharon Kreitinger, having received the highest number of votes, was appointed School Board Chair

Chris Schmit was appointed School Board Vice-Chair. 

Tessa Olive was appointed School Board Clerk. 

Craig Fuchs was appointed School Board Treasurer. 

Appointed  as School Board Directors for 2019 were Harvey Bergh, Mark Chilson and Jan Reed

Mark Chilson arrived at 5:14 p.m.

2019 board members will receive $1,300 per year. Board Chair receives additional $500. Board negotiators will receive additional $500

Designated the Dodge County Independent as the official newspaper for 2019

Designated DACS bulletin board as official posting place for school board meeting notices

Designated Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, P.A. as legal counsel 

Designated First Security Bank as primary depository for school district checking account. 

Designated Minnesota School District Liquid Asset Fund and TD Ameritrade as primary depositories for investments 

Approved authority to invest funds and wire funds by the school district administrative office staff and Superintendent 

Granted authority to the superintendent to issue checks between board meetings 

Authorized use of facsimile signature on payroll and voucher checks in accordance with the provisions of M.S. 47.41 and 47.42

Delegated statutory duties of treasurer to school district business manager and Superintendent  

Delegated statutory duties of clerk to administrative staff 

Approved resolution establishing a combined polling place

Sharon Kreitinger was appointed ZED rep 

Jan Reed was appointed alternate ZED representative 

Harvey Bergh was appointed rep for SEE and MREA

Chris Schmit was appointed Legislative Liaison 

Chris Schmit was appointed rep for Early Childhood Family Education and Byron Community Education Advisory Council 

Tessa Olive, Harvey Bergh and Mark Chilson were appointed City Council/School Board Joint Committee reps.  

Mark Chilson was appointed Minnesota State High School League Rep 

Chris Schmit, Tessa Olive, and Sharon Kreitinger were appointed to School Board Negotiation/Personnel Committee

Chris Schmit, Tessa Olive, and Sharon Kreitinger were appointed to Meet and Confer Committee

Craig Fuchs, Harvey Bergh and Sharon Kreitinger were appointed to the School Board Finance/Facilities Committee 

Jan Reed was appointed to World’s Best Workforce Committee

Mark Chilson was appointed to Hall of Fame Committee
