Vivian Marie Thorn, 96, Dodge Center

Vivian Marie (Dresen) Thorn, born July 3, 1920 to Charles Dresen and Mary (Beacom), passed away on July 15 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center where she had resided since 2008. Thanks to Fairview Care Center for the care given to our mother.
Vivian attended school in Sioux City, Iowa, and in Lehigh, Montana. On September 5, 1939, she married Milo Thorn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed together until moving to Dodge Center.
Vivian was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught the Bethel Bible Series and Sunday School. She worked several years as a bakery clerk and spent 20 Years working at Gaurke’s Department Store where she sold candy to kids before and after school. She was an exemplary mother and kept an immaculate home.
She is survived by sons, Kenneth (Deloris) of Osakis, Minnesota.; Douglas (Pauline) of Owatonna; Gary (Shirley) of Rochester; Gregory (Bettina) of Fountain, Colorado; and a daughter, Grace (Alan) Rustan of Byron. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Sandra Wyatt (Frank). She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23 at Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd St NW, Dodge Center, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Barbara Streed officiating. Visitation will be at the church, Saturday, from 9-11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville.
Memorials can be given to Faith Lutheran.
