Keith Steinkamp, 66, Grand Meadow
Keith R. Steinkamp, 66, of rural Grand Meadow, MN died on Saturday (May 11, 2024) at his home surrounded by family, following a battle with stomach cancer.
Keith Robert Steinkamp was born on February 4, 1958 in Rochester, to Leon and Dorothy (Klocke) Steinkamp. He grew up on the family farm, attended Grand Meadow schools graduating from Grand Meadow HS in 1976. He was employed at National Car Rental in Rochester where he met the love of his life Kathleen. Keith asked Kathleen out on a date one week after working together. After they held hands on their first date, they both knew they were meant to be together. Keith and Kathleen E. Christenson were married the following year on May 8, 1982 at St Finbarr’s Catholic Church in Grand Meadow, MN. Following their marriage the couple moved to Stewartville where Keith was employed at Halcon Corporation for over 30 years as a CNC operator until his retirement in 2023. In 1998 Keith and Kathleen moved to rural Grand Meadow where they have continued to make their home.
For 42 years, Keith shared a life filled with love and devotion with his beloved wife Kathleen. Keith was a skilled craftsman, woodworker, gardener and beekeeper, all things he enjoyed doing with Kathleen by his side. Keith enjoyed sharing his woodworking talents, garden bounty, and honey with family members. Keith was a kind-hearted, humorous, intelligent, deep thinking, loving person who would help anyone that needed help. Keith was a lifelong member of St. Finbarrs Catholic Church. A devout Catholic, Keith's faith was a guiding light throughout his life, and now he has been called home to be with God.
Keith is survived by his wife of 42 years – Kathleen ; his parents – Leon and Dorothy Steinkamp of Grand Meadow; 2 sisters and 4 brothers - Pat(Rhea) of Leroy; David of Grand Meadow; Joanne Anderson(Ron Michel) of Chaska; Robert of rural Grand Meadow; Jim(Marjean) of Tempe, AZ and Nancy Steinkamp(John Gavin) of Madison, WI; mother-in-law Shirley Christenson of Kasson; 1 brother-in-law and 2 sister-in-law’s – David(Laura) Christenson of Loveland ,CO; Laura(Tim) Ferguson of Rochester, and Cindy(John) Rendler of Mantorville, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Ronda Steinkamp and father-in-law James Christenson.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Keith will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday (May 17, 2024) at St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church in Grand Meadow, with Fr. Marreddy officiating. Burial will be at St. Bernards Catholic Cemetery in Stewartville. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church in Grand Meadow, and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church in Grand Meadow.
