George Alan Halverson, 69, Byron
George Alan Halverson, 69, of Byron, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1955, in Estherville, Iowa to Parker and Virginia (George) Halverson. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1974. He attended Mankato State University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1978. George and Vicky (Schneier) Halverson were married on August 26, 1978.
George and Vicky settled in Hayfield, where they raised three beautiful children. George dedicated 41 years to the Hayfield Window and Door Company, becoming a beloved and respected colleague. George truly cherished the small town of Hayfield and loved watching his kids grow up playing sports there.
A true Minnesotan, George was an avid sports fan, always hoping that this would be the year the Vikings finally win the Super Bowl. Although he won’t be here to see it, we know he’s cheering from the best seat in the house. He really thought this is the year the Vikings will take the win. He also enjoyed watching classic Westerns, likely dreaming of riding off into the sunset himself. We can just imagine him having a playful gun draw standoff with Matt Dillon in heaven. Whenever we hear Roger Whittaker whistling, catch the intro of "Rifleman," or watch Minnesota sports, we will always think of him.
Above all, George took immense pride in his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife, Vicky; his daughter Tara (Rob) Rohman of Cleveland, MN; his son Jason (Ashley) Halverson of Byron; his daughter Sara (Ryan) Weidemann of Duluth; his nine beloved grandchildren: Jackson, Aria, Kaylee, Parker, Claire, Hudson, Estelle, Rylee, Raegan and his brother, David (Doreen) Halverson of Champlin.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Virginia Halverson; his stepfather, Harold Stanwick; his brother, Arthur Halverson; and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Charles) Bieber.
