Daryle Curtis Kabage , 80 , Farmington

Daryle Curtis Kabage

On Sunday, December 17th, after a peaceful day with his daughters, Daryle took his last breath and went home to be with Jesus. As soon as the girls left for the evening, he decided to make his great escape, in true Daryle fashion. He was never one for long good-byes or sappy sentiments. You would most likely hear, “Ok, bye” when you were leaving and if you were lucky, get a hug or kiss. Whether he couldn’t wait to see the loved ones that had gone before him, or he was excited for the dancing on his two healed legs, we are so blessed to know that he is finally Home.

Daryle was born in Austin, MN in 1943. He grew up on a farm and quickly learned the meaning of hard work. He graduated from Hayfield High School in 1961 and went on to attend Mankato Business College, majoring in business administration. From there, he spent a few years working at Ability Building Center in Rochester where he assembled electronic components and did some of the shipping and receiving. He settled into a career with Control Data Corporation in Bloomington in 1969. While there, he spent the majority of his time in the production control department. He met a lot of great friends while working there and many of the friendships continued on into his later years.

In April 1970, Daryle married Eileen Beckmann and, during their 16 years together, they had two beautiful daughters. They shared many fun times as a family, including a yearly vacation to Lake Melissa in Detroit Lakes.

Daryle had many interests including: fishing, camping, bowling, gardening, playing poker, snowmobiling, nice cars, dancing, and always, always….music! He loved music and he had a special love for Elvis. You could find him many weekends either fishing on the St. Croix River or “cutting a rug” at Sh Booms. He was a very witty man and was always quick with a snappy comeback. He loved to joke around and had many “Daryle” sayings. Those who knew him best may remember: “Not bad if you’re hungry”, “Ok, bye”, or “Makes me no never mind.” He also acquired several nicknames over the years including, “Rabbit”, “Jack the Cat”, “Step and a Half” and “Shoo Shoo La Hop”. He was a well loved man and will be missed by many.

Daryle is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Kathleen Kabage of Hayfield and his precious grandmother, Cora Howe, also of Hayfield.  He leaves behind one sister: Linda (Wayne) Gaustad of Park Rapids, two daughters: Renee (John) Marlenee of Northfield, and Michelle (Gene) Ronnebaum of Farmington,  grandchildren: Luke (Jorja), Chase, Abigail, and Levi, two great grandchildren: Benjamin and Juniper, and many other family and close friends.

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Trinity Care Center in Farmington who became a big part of Daryle’s extended family.

To honor his life and memory, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
