Brady Howard A.,102, Apple Valley

Brady, Howard A. Age 102, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away May 13, 2024. He was born July 24, 1921 in Seneca Missouri, to LeRoy Brady and Flossie Fetherstun Brady. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carol, a Mantorville native, his parents, three sisters, and one brother.

At the age of 22, Howard volunteered for American Airline’s war effort as a flight radio officer for project 7A in the war effort to fly cargo over the Himalayas, referred to as “The Hump”. It wasn’t until 1991 that Congress recognized the volunteers to be considered Air Force Veterans, and granted him an honorable discharge, full veterans benefits and medals. He was awarded the WW-II Ribbon, the European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Chinese Medal and the United States Air Medal. Howard retired in 1995, after 38 plus years working for the FAA as an avionics inspector.  During his lifetime, he was a member of Toastmasters, American Legion, Corvair Club, and a ham radio operator. He was an avid runner, skier (both downhill and cross-country) obtaining several trophies, medals, and ribbons to attest to this fact. 

Probably one of his biggest loves was the lake cabin he purchased on Upper Gull Lake. He is survived by son, Michael (Dottie); daughter, Jan; grandchildren: Kevin Brady (Samantha), Melanie Brady, Karen Brady, Karla Morrow (Bryan), Mollie Gehrke (Andy), Andy Gansmoe (Courtney), and Natalie Gansmoe, 11 great grandchildren: Landon Morrow, Chace Morrow, Baileigh Morrow, Emory Gehrke, Torrin Gehrke, Luella Gehrke, Noah Brady, Kaytlynn Brady, Jaina Friddle, Evelyn Brady, and Margaret Brady, as well as other family and friends.

Funeral service Saturday, June 8 at 11 AM at White Funeral Home, Lakeville. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beyond Hospice (Pillars) in Oakdale, would be appreciated. Interment will be Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville. Condolences:www.whitefuneralhomes.com
