Arden Crane, 92, Menahga

 Arden Crane, 92 of Menahga, Minnesota and formerly of Dodge Center, passed away at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, Minnesota.  

Arden was born on August 22, 1923, the son of Lyman and Mildred (Roberts) Crane in Dodge Center, Minnesota.  

He attended Dodge Center High School and entered the Army in March 1943. He had a honorable discharge on March 15, 1946, and returned to Dodge Center.  He married Sheila Greene on August 9, 1947.  Arden and Shelia raised five children.  

Arden was a house painter and body and fender man by trade.  He held numerous jobs associated with his love of painting, but preferred to be self employed and ran body and fender shops in Dodge Center. During the summer months he and his four-son painting crew painted farm buildings.  After retirement he developed a hobby of painting pictures and that depicted his love for fishing, hunting and the outdoors.  Examples of his work can be found adorning the walls of his family’s homes.  In 2007, he and his son, Lance relocated to Menahga, Minnesota.

Arden is survived by his three sons, Barth (Dorothy) Crane, Rochester, Minnesota; Kevin (Penny) Crane, Spicewood, Texas; Lance Crane, Menahga, Minnesota; one daughter, Valerie Lentz, Jackson, Minnesota; 2 granddaughters, Miranda (Clayton) Olmstead, Hurst, Texas; Chandra Crane, LaCrosse, Wisconsin: three step-granddaughters, Leah (Herllan) Serna, Woodbury, Minnesota; Lori (John) Vine, Zumbrota, Minnesota; Nicole Lentz, Rochester, Minnesota; three step-grandsons, Greg (Joy) Sim, Fort Atkinson, Iowa; Mike Cardone, Spicewood, Texas;  Marty Lentz, Worthington, Minnesota; twelve step-great grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; three nieces, Candace (Lowell) Bartell, McGregor, Minnesota; Alice (Steve) Clark, Winter, Wisconsin; Connie Sue Crane; five nephews, Hal (Melodee) Rossi, Fridley, Minnesota; Scott (Teresa) Rossi, Plymouth, Minnesota; Todd Rossi, Chaska, Minnesota; Brett Crane, and Monte Crane.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sheila; one son, Terry; one grandson, Geoffrey Johnson; one brother Blake; one sister, Phyllis Rossi, and son-in-law Alfred Lentz.

A  memorial service for Arden Crane will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Seventh Day Baptist Church, 203 East Main Street in Dodge Center, Minnesota with Reverend Bill Shobe officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.  Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, Minnesota.
